True Lacrosse is excited to announce that Mike Squillante will join the team as full-time director of the new True Lacrosse New Jersey. Mike comes to True with a wealth of lacrosse experience as a player and coach, and brings a high level of energy to the newest region of True Lacrosse.
Mike is the owner and founder of Garden State Lacrosse Academy (GSLA). He previously served as an offensive coordinator at the High School and College level and was a youth coach at Lenape Valley and Sparta Township.
A 2015 graduate of Marywood University, Mike was named 2014 2nd Team All CSAC Faceoff Specialist. He earned the team’s Hard Work Pays Off Award twice, and the Iron Man Award three times. He was also ECAC Player of the Week, and holds the single season ground ball and faceoff win records.
Mike attended Lenape Valley Regional High School, where he was a two-time captain, two-time 1st Team All West Jersey, two-time MVP, and career leader in grounds balls, faceoff wins, faceoff win percentage, single season assist, and single game points.
With a passion for the game and a will to succeed, Mike is a perfect fit to lead the True Lacrosse New Jersey program after merging with GSLA. True Lacrosse founder and co-owner Mike Gabel is excited about this partnership and to have Mike on board. “Mike is exactly the kind of person we look for in a director,” said Gabel. “He’s hardworking, knows the game, and has a great rapport with parents and players alike. We’re excited about branching out into New Jersey and building on the excellent training opportunity he has already established there with the Garden State Lacrosse Academy.”
True Lacrosse New Jersey will host fall tryouts for their 2019-2020 teams on July 20th & 21st at 28 Andover Rd, Sparta, NJ 07871. All interested players should register by clicking on the button below. You can also visit the GSLA website by clicking here.
